Microsoft’s Chief Product Officer Panos Panay has developed the company’s newest whiteboarding and workspace wunderkind. Panay states, “This is an innovation that nobody has or can do. It’s our history of Surface, the tech that we put together, and our understanding of the customer.”
The Surface Hub 2S is mobile and sits eye-level on an easel designed by Steelcase. Due to its lightness and mobility, collaboration is no longer relegated to the conference room. Powering the Hub 2S is a custom version of Windows 10 and Microsoft Teams, which has a “Brady Brunch”-esque view for meetings, a whiteboard app for collaboration, the Microsoft Knowledge Graph, and more. “The workplace is always going to be changing. I think that is, in essence, the modern workplace,” Panay explained, “What this product starts to do is give people what they need to do today, to collaborate.”
This development is a combination of hardware and software, helping to meet people where they are and help get them to where they’re going. Many work environments have drastically changed for most people due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are starting to see how technology is becoming increasingly more prevalent and utilized in all areas – especially the workplace.
